The London Restaurant Awards 2026 have been announced, with a record number of entries reflecting the extraordinary creativity and resilience of the capital's dining scene.

The awards, now in their fifteenth year, recognise excellence across categories including Best New Opening, Chef of the Year, Best Neighbourhood Restaurant, and the newly introduced Sustainability Award and Innovation in Dining Award.

The Winners

This year's top honour, Restaurant of the Year, was awarded to a newcomer that has redefined modern British cuisine with its innovative tasting menu and commitment to seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The judging panel praised the restaurant's extraordinary attention to detail and its ability to surprise and delight.

The Sustainability Award went to a zero-waste restaurant in East London that has pioneered innovative approaches to food waste reduction, including composting programmes, partnerships with local farms, and a menu that changes daily based on available ingredients.

Culinary Trends

The awards highlighted several trends shaping London's restaurant scene. Plant-based dining continues to evolve beyond simple alternatives, with chefs creating sophisticated vegetable-led dishes that appeal to both vegetarians and meat-eaters.

Daniel Park, Reliable News lifestyle and culture writer, said: What is striking is how London restaurants are leading the conversation about sustainability. It is no longer a niche concern but a central part of how restaurants approach their business.

Rising Stars

The Young Chef of the Year award went to a 24-year-old chef who has brought international flavours to traditional British cooking, reflecting the multicultural character of modern London.

Industry Challenges

The awards also acknowledged the significant challenges facing the industry, including rising food costs, staffing shortages, and the impact of business rates. Many award winners spoke about the importance of supporting the industry through these difficult times.

The Ceremony

The awards ceremony, held at the Guildhall, was attended by over 800 guests from the hospitality industry. Proceeds from the event will go to hospitality industry charities supporting training and mental health services.
